Who will win the election? Try Kioski’s new Election Bot, and do your own part! Hi, I’m Matti. I thought I should explain how this happened. I have made an anime before about the municipal elections, and the presidential elections The idea is to combine the dry elections to the crazyness of anime-style action. That presidential election video got out of hand, and was shared in Japan as well. In fact, they had so much fun with it that they wanted me to talk about it in a local news show. It also made it in one of those shows where celebrities react to things in the corner of the screen. I’m not a real animator or illustrator, so this is going to be terrible advice for anyone. Can you do that one more time? First, I draw the characters with a pencil, as well as I can with this time. Then, with one of these drawing desks you can do this… You can draw the inked version on a new piece of paper. After that I scan everything to my computer. Then it will look something like this. After this, I can color the pictures on the computer. Most of the shots in these are just people standing around and talking. For these, I simply have a moving mouth I can put on the faces and the characters will talk. The voice-acting in this one was done by Heikki Valkama, who grew up in Japan. He has also translated a couple of mangas to finnish. One more time! Try flexing your muscles and then saying it! A difficult thing is trying to fit in as many references as I can. I don’t want to do things people won’t get. Usually people understand the Dragon Ball things, but for example in the first one, I tried to draw characters in the exact same way and in the same poses as in those Ace Attorney games, but no one really got that. So this time I wanted to use things people are more familiar with, and that’s why I wanted the robot to evolve in the same way as in Digimon Adventure. But for that I needed a 3d-model of the robots. I asked our host/art director, Gogi, to make me the models. He made me two robots, which I can use how I wanted. I guess you already saw the finished product. I hope this brought you some joy, and please tell me which references you can spot. Also, don’t forget to vote.
